TBF’s Science & Education Specialist, TJ Morrell, recently made a couple visits to Miami EcoAdventures’ summer camp at Bill Sadowski Park & Nature Center in Miami, FL. TJ was thrilled to have the opportunity to chat with the campers in June and July about the importance of conserving billfish and the vital role they play in our oceans.
The days kicked off with a series of video clips showcasing who TBF is, what billfish are, and the conservation efforts being made to protect them. TJ shared stories of his own experiences on the water, emphasizing how important data collection and research is to make any significant changes in terms of fisheries. The campers were engaged throughout the entire process, eagerly asking questions about billfish, how to identify them, and how to get involved.
As each of the days came to a close, TJ thanked the campers for their enthusiasm and passion for billfish conservation. He encouraged them to spread the word about the importance of responsible angling and to have their parents reach out if they’re interested in getting involved with TBF!
Thank you to Miami Ecoadventures for allowing TBF to visit your camp. Thanks to all the campers for being such a great audience!
