Our 2024 tournament schedule kicks off with a bang, with the world’s oldest (still running!) sailfish tournament back on for it’s 86th year! Of course, we’re talking about the Silver Sailfish Derby!
This tournament is rich with South Florida sailfishing history. Originally sponsored by Ernest Hemingway, this historical tournament is also credited with developing the red release pennant that we all know and love. The Derby is one of the first examples of a tournament promoting catch and release practices. Each year, only 50 boats are allowed to participate, ensuring a quality event. And to level out the playing field, this is a non-professional event!
Fishing this year will take place on January 11 & 12, good luck to all the boats and crews participating!
